52 Ancestors ~#34 Philipp Kornmeyer

My husbands 4x great grandfather Phillip Kornmeyer was born and lived his life in Baden Germany, in the agriculture lands on the shore of Lake Constance. The parish records for Boehringen, Konstanz, Baden documents the birth marriages and deaths for local families from 1728 -1900.

I found Phillippus Kornmeyer when I was looking for his son Martin who was the first in my husbands line to immigrate from Germany to the United States. This is a copy  that I made from the microfilm at the Salt Lake City Family History Library.

I have exactly zero language skills. But I understand that this record indicates that Martin who was born on the 18th of October was christened the following day. Martin Kornmeyer, father Philipp Kornmeyer, mother Waldburga Mayer. Having found the birth record for Martin I went browsing for other family members on this same film. In the Kornmeyer listings some were listed as Kornmeier so Philipp (Philippus) Kornmeyer (Kornmeier) and a Nothburger Meyerin (Mayer) have three children. Josephus christened on 29 November 1804, a Joseph christened on 8 January 1807, and Johannes born on 9 July 1810. On a Marriage record for a Katarina Kornmeier to Joseph Uhl 28 April 1824, Katharina’s parents are listed as Philipp Kornmeier and Nothburga Mayer. Then in 1811 Martin is born and the mother is listed as Waldburga Mayer. Philipp and Waldburga go on to have Maria Anna born  2 July 1812, Theresia born 8 Febuary 1813 (died 8 March 1814) Theresia born 9 July 1814 (died 6 August 1814), and Rosa shown born 30 May 1819 ( died 24 Sept. 1843).The next listing was for a Josephus born 8 Jan 1816 to Philipp Kornmeyer and Walburga Nothburga Mayer. Later I found a listing for this Joseph Kornmeier. It is a complete family record.

Click on image to enlarge. Here we see that Josephs father (Vater) is listed as Philipp Kornmeier, mother (Mutter) is Nothburga Mayer. and date of birth is listed as 8 January 1816.  So at first I thought that Philipp had at least two different wives. But now I think they were all the same person and sometimes she went by her first name and sometimes she went by her middle name. The only spanner in the whole works is the Mayer family listings for Boehringen shows a Nothburga Mayer christened on 23 May 1778 and a Walburga Mayer 22 May 1778. Both parents for these two listings is Joannes Mayer and Maria Ursula Hirlingin. So my question is are Walburga Mayer and Nothburga Mayer one in the same, twins, or just sisters?

Would love to have your comments and thoughts.

From looking back at the possible parents for Philipp I found a Philipp Jacobus Kornmeier christened on 30 April 1777 in Boehringen, Baden, Germany.  Vater was Gregorus Kornmeier and mutter Anastasia Martinin. Now that’s another story for another time.
